INVESTIGATION OF ELECTRIC DISHARGE MACHINING PARAMETERS TO MINIMIZE SURFACE ROUGHNESS

: Surface roughness during electrical discharge machining (EDM)was determined, inwhich material is removed by thermo-electric process due to the occurrence of successive dischargebetween workpiece and electrode. Box-Behnken design (BBD) involving four parameters dischargecurrent (I), Pulse ON time (PON), OFF (POFF) andGap voltage, with three levels wasemployed minimize surface roughness. Other such as Servo speed, Polarity Dieelectric pressurewere kept constant throughout machining. A copper electrode toolwas used machine holes in AISI 1045 steel work piece. Mathematical models were developed using Response Methodology (RSM), while Analysis variance (ANOVA) was observe individual effect, interaction between parameters, check validity models.
